The Life of Virginia Woolf

Adeline Virginia Woolf, more commonly known as Virginia Woolf was born on January 5th, 1882 in London, England. Woolf was educated by her parents; her father Sir Leslie Stephen was an author, historian, and mountaineer, while her mother modeled for various artists, including Edward Burnes-Jones. Virginia took after her father and became a famous writer herself, writing mainly feminists literary works. Both of Woolf's parents were widows who brought children from previous marriages, therefore adding up to a total of eight children. Throughout her life, Woolf had suffered many nervous breakdowns, her first one starting at the age of 15 when her half sister passed away, just two years after her mom did. Her nervoud breakdowns did not have any impact on her studies at the Ladies Department of the King's College London. Her biggest nervous collapse came in 1904 with the passing of her father, and the period when Woolf and her sister were being sexually abused by their half-brothers; this led to her institutionalization.  Woolf began her career in 1910 working working for the Times Literary Supplement, then two years later, in 1912, Virginia had married Leonard Woolf, despite his poverty. Throughout the period of her life she had realeased many popular books including her first novel, The Voyage Out, To The Lighthouse, and A Room of One's Own. Toward the end of Woolf's life, she had fallen into a deep depression which led to her suicide in March of 1941, her body was found 20 days later.
